OBA/ITEGA OKPAME: CROSS RIVER DUE PROCESS DG, BAR OGAR EBA LEADS GOVT DELEGATION TO YALA

…Assures of peaceful resolution

As part of government efforts to end the land dispute between Oba and Itega Okpame communities in Yala Local Government Area, the Director General, Cross River State Due Process and Price Intelligence Bureau, Barr. Alphonsus Ogar Eba on Saturday leads a special Cross River State Government team comprising of senior government officials to the disputing communities.

The delegation which is in Yala Local on a fact finding mission and to sue for peace and meet with traditional, religious, political leaders and youths of Oba and Itega Okpame communities, assures on a peaceful resolution of the crisis.

The team, which includes the State Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Omaga Odo, the Special Adviser to the Governor Ben Ayade on Tourism, Mr Oko Sunday Ebeku (aka Otolo), Honourable Mrs Regina Anyogo, Honourable Mrs Cynthia Nkasi, Barr. Godwin Offiono and Mr John Odey Ohiero will also meet with the Chairman of Yala Security Council, Mr Eddy Achi and all heads of security in Yala and Ogoja local government areas.

It would be recalled that crisis between the disputing communities started on Thursday, April 4, 2019 over a piece of land in the boundaries of the communities.

Barr Eba confirmed in a telephone conversation that in the interim, the government has directed everyone to stay off the disputed piece of land until the final and peaceful resolution of the matter.

While regretting the avoidable crisis, the DG Due Process, declared that the state government will deal decisively with those behind the crisis.
