The New Tor Tiv elect, Prof James Ayatse commended the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Tor Uja for his leadership role in bringing Christians together.
The Tor Tiv elect made this known in Makurdi, Benue State while playing host to the Tiv Christian Leaders and elders led by the Executive Secretary of NCPC, Rev. Tor Uja, during a solidarity visit to the new monarch for his emergence as the 5th Tor Tiv.
According to Prof Ayatse, “Rev. Tor Uja has been in the forefront 0f Christian leadership in Benue State.” He added, “Tor Uja has the ability to mobilize and galvanize people for common good”. His Royal Majesty further affirmed that the appointment of Rev. Tor Uja as the Executive Secretary of NCPC was a reward of his unrelenting effort in bringing Christians together which his position as NCPC boss would give him more opportunity to reach out to all the Christians in Nigeria.
He stressed that the best is yet to come for the NCPC boss for all he has been doing for humanity.
The Tor Tiv elect said he spoke with the Tiv Christian Leaders and elders on things that concerned the people. He described his emergence as divine thus he promised to use his throne as a platform for evangelism.
Professor Ayatse affirmed that he would be Tor Tiv for all the Tiv people worldwide and that the Tiv is the fourth largest tribe in Nigeria with a population of about 7 million people.
The new monarch promised that during his reign he would promote corporation between the Church and Traditional institutions. He stated, “I will revisit the culture of the Tiv people to make it more pragmatic and more result oriented.
The new monarch who was the former Vice Chancellor of two Federal Universities stated that he would want to celebrate farming during his reign. “According to him, we are the major producer of yam, rice and fruits in Nigeria, I will use this to unite the people.”
He promised to promote the teaching and learning of Tiv language.
The Executive Secretary of NCPC, Rev. Tor Uja explained that the emergence of Prof. Ayatse as the new Tor Tiv elect was a prayer answered for the Christians in Benue State. He explained that the new monarch would use his traditional institution to interface with the Church for the progress of the Tiv people and Benue State as a whole.
The NCPC boss informed that in September this year the Commission would commence pilgrimage for traditional rulers. Consequently, he explained that the Tor Tiv elect would be instrumental in driving this aspect of pilgrimage.
The Tiv Christian Leaders and Elders led by Rev. Tor Uja also paid a courtesy visit on the Executive Governor of Benue State, Governor Samuel Ortom in Government House, Makurdi.
The Tiv Christian Leaders and Elders were drawn from different Christian denominations both within Benue and across the nation.
