NCPC Boss Harps On Vision For Nigeria’s Generic Development

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja has said that Nigeria needs a vision long enough to provide generic development. In his words “what holds people together is the common vision they share and if we must put Nigeria together, vision should be the principal thing, we should build a vision that is big and long enough,” he stressed.

He disclosed this during the formal inauguration of the Pilgrimage Mobilization Committee at NCPC Corporate Headquarters, Abuja.

Rev Uja explained that leadership begins with building and mobilizing people for a common purpose. He said that the nation needs a new movement that would drive this country, pursue and win soul to God and as such, this would make Christian Pilgrimage a success.

He stressed the need for the members of the Committee to work together in such a manner that Pilgrimage should be affordable to all who wished to have an experience, and urged them to work together as a team in order to achieve their common goals. He further reaffirmed that the committee is expected to create the necessary initiative to engage the Church, government, stakeholders, women and the Youth.

He further advised Christians who go on pilgrimage to ensure that they pray for peace and unity in Nigeria. According to him, “this is a time for us to invest in our nation, God has a purpose for this country and we need to pursue it”, adding that NCPC is doing everything within its reach to ensure that pilgrimage has a new direction that would take the country forward.

The NCPC boss urges Churches to join hands with NCPC to build a relationship and should engage other faiths to move Nigeria forward. He equally called on churches to take ownership of Christian pilgrimage in Nigeria.

He informed that the committee aside staff members would include some members of the Board, members of Christian Pilgrim Welfare Boards in the states, Christian Pilgrimage Operators, some Pastors, selected groups, not only in Abuja, but states and even outside the country.

Rev. Uja thanked members of the Committee for accepting to be part of this critical assignment which according to him is central to the pilgrimage mobilization of the Commission.

In her own remarks, the Chairman of the Committee, who was represented by the Coordinator Abuja Metropolitan office, Mrs. Farry-Okuobeya, thanked the Executive Secretary and management staff for giving them the opportunity and privilege to serve the Commission. She averred that the Committee would put in their best to ensure that the task given to them is carried out efficiently.
