The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja has commended the Federal Government of Nigeria for issuing an Executive Order on the Ease of doing business in Nigeria.
He made this commendation recently in Abuja during a maiden NCPC enlightenment workshop on pilgrimage Service Delivery and Public Procurement for service providers who intends to do business with NCPC.
In the words of the NCPC boss: “Government has thought it fit by issuing an Executive Order to help the Ease of doing business in Nigeria”. He added, “this is an important development for Nigeria’s march to freedom”
Rev Uja therefore stated that to do business with the Commission you do not need to know anybody. He emphasized that merit would define the operation of the Commission rather than who you know.
He further stated that the Commission came up with the idea of the strategic workshop having realized that out of 21 service providers who bided for services this year, only two Ground Handlers were qualified and only one Air carrier also qualified. He opined that because of the lack of understanding of the public procurement procedures many of service providers were not able to meet the criteria set by Bureau of Public procurement (BPP), thus necessitated the workshop.
The NCPC helmsman further charged Nigerians to rise up and take responsibility about this nation. His words: “we are a strong, hardworking, spiritually and Godly people”. According to him, “we need to define which direction Nigeria will go, because Nigeria is a nation put together by God”.
He explained that it is a policy of the Commission to provide services for pilgrims wherever they are in the world thus “we need the services of qualify people to work for us”
Rev Uja assured the service providers that the Commission was out to promote pilgrimage and also do them good. According to him: “any service you provide to us we have set a template to pay you within 10 days”
He further stated, “I will want you to partner with us by doing what is good”. He therefore affirmed that the corporate ethic of the Commission is “Do the right thing, the Right way, Always “
To this end, he stated “ if you are coming here you will be treated in the right way and you will also treat us in the right way.”
In her remark, the Chairperson of the Christian pilgrimage Operators (CPO), Mrs. Adeola Adekola stressed the need for a better working relationship between NCPC and her Association.
The one day workshop is targeted at all those who intend to bid for service that would be provided to pilgrims through NCPC which include Air Carriers, Airlines, Nigeria Partners of Foreign Ground Handlers, Christian Pilgrimage Operators (CPO) that intend to secure for services that would be provided to pilgrims through the Commission.
