NCPC Boss Commends PMB For Approving Medical Welfare Services For Pilgrims

The Director In Charge of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mrs. Esther Kwaghe has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the 2019 Medical welfare services for pilgrims during Holy Pilgrimage in Israel, Greece and Rome.

She made the commendation on Friday during the opening ceremony of a three day Medical Orientation Programme organized by the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission and the Federal Medical Committee for the Federal Medical Team at Goshen, Nasarawa State.

Mrs Kwaghe stated that the orientation was necessary as it would afford the Federal Medical Team the opportunity to learn more about the mandate of the Commission, especially for those who were participating for the first time and even those who had participated before would also learn new trends and innovations that had evolved over time.

She congratulated them for their selection and success in the Federal Medical Examination, adding that they were selected strictly on merit.

The Director In Charge urged the Federal Medical Team to have a passion for pilgrimage, stating that the medical profession is a humanitarian service and as such they should be passionate in carrying out their duties.

The NCPC boss further admonished them to always empathize with the pilgrims. According to her, “Whatever you are doing, do it unto the Lord.”

Earlier, The Head of Operations of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Amos Yohanna, stated that the Commission would continue to ensure zero mortality and morbidity for pilgrims during pilgrimage.

He further stressed that the Commission’s goal was to achieve good medical care for the pilgrims as their well being during pilgrimage is paramount.

Rev. Yohama also emphasized that the orientation programme afforded the Commission, the Federal Medical Committee and Federal Medical Team the opportunity to interact and strategies in order to have a hitch free medical care for the pilgrims.

It would be recalled that earlier this year, the Commission in conjunction with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) organized Medical selection examinations for the Federal Medical Team.
A total of 65 Medical personnel participated in the 2019 NCPC Federal Medical Orientation Programme.

The Federal Medical Team comprises medical doctors, pharmacists, nurses and laboratory scientists. They will accompany pilgrims to the Holy Land and take care of their medical needs during pilgrimage.
