Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Saturday revealed that the present administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari has so far invested a whooping sum of N1.3 trillion on infrastructural development across the country since it came on board.
Osibajo said the huge investment on the infrastructure by Buhari led administration, is the highest by any government in the history of the country.
Osinbajo who stated this during a special live interview on the services of the state owned television and radio in Ondo State, said all the social intervention programmes of the present government like the Npower, Home Grown School Feeding, Conditional Cash Transfer scheme among others, are aimed at uplifting the socioeconomic status of the people.
The Vice President who was in the state on a two-day working visit, said his visit across the country has revealed to him that the masses are appreciative of government’s efforts to reposition the country in spite of all challenges.
He commended the state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for justifying the mandate of people of the state with projects and initiatives geared towards enhancing the welfare of his people.
Osibajo said Akeredolu’s style of governance which takes cognisance of proper planning before projects execution deserves commendation.
He said Akeredolu’s effort to re-jig the economy of the state through massive infrastructure, bitumen exploration, and revamping the fortunes of cocoa, as a leading producer in Nigeria, deserve the needed support by all and sundry.
According to him, “Ondo is a great state with incredible potential. I am excited to see what the government is doing in terms of infrastructure, and the development surrounding bitumen which of course the state is very well known for.
” I think the future here is certainly great with the work that is going on and the detailed plans. Ondo has always been the cocoa capital of Nigeria, and one of the key projects the government has chosen to do is to resuscitate good cocoa production as the leading state in cocoa production in Nigeria and the entire world. I think we are looking at an exciting time ahead for this state.
“We have one of the largest bitumen deposits here in Ondo state. You can imagine Ondo state is not going to be like other states in the country as it is in the right direction, so we are looking forward to a great time. ”
