The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev Dr Yakubu Pam has enjoined the staff of the Commission to learn to cast their burdens on the shoulder of God.
He gave the charge on 17th December, 2021 in a statement by Head, Media and Public Relations, Celestine Toruka, during the Commission’s Christmas Carol held at the premises of the NCPC Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
In his exaltation taken from the book of Isaiah, chapter 9 verse 6 to 7 which vividly explains the real mission of Christ on earth and who he is.According to this particular Bible scripture, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace”.
Rev Pam thus explained that the purpose of Christ on earth was clearly captured in the scriptural reference. He stressed that God is a God of progression who wants the best for us.
He intimated the staff that God had a heavenly agenda for them, but they must learn to cast their burdens on his shoulder.
He posited that God allows us to pass through challenges in order to strengthen us.His words,” God never works with any person who has not passed through life challenges”. He added, ” you cannot actualise your destiny without a testimony”.
He further admonished the staff to learn to lay all their troubles in the shoulder of Christ as that would be the only elixir to their problems.
The NCPC helmsman further assured the staff that because the Lord had carried them on his shoulder, therefore in 2022, they would all sing a new song of victory.
The NCPC Chief Executive emphasised that there was need for the Commission to celebrate and thank God for seeing the Commission through from January 1st 2021 to the end of the year. He also reaffirmed that if not for the Lord , the success story of the 2020 maiden Pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Jordan would not have been possible.
He reiterated that NCPC remained the only Christian faith based agency that has direct link with the Presidency, as such it is a peculiar organisation by virtue of its mandate. He was optimistic that through dedicated and committed work force, the Commission would become a reference point among other agencies of government.
Rev Pam used the platform to advise staff to be their brother’s keeper and shun any act that might divide their unity .He further urged them to avoid unhealthy competition and rivalry and work as a family of God,s people.
The Christmas Carol was characterised with various renditions by the NCPC Choirs decked in fantastically beautiful outfits depicting the mood of the season. Lessons were read from the Holy Bible by different staff drawn from various Departments and Units.
The NCPC 2021 Christmas Carol was graced by a Board Member of the Commission, who is the Federal Commissioner representing the North East Geo-political Zone, Rev.Dr Jida Gelengu and all the Directors and Management Staff.
