IPMAN Suspends Former President Alleged Ebezzlement Of N10.9bn Subsidy

The Chinedu Okwonkwo-led Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has suspended its former National President, Alhaji Aminu Abdulkadir, calling for immediate probe of N10.9 billion allegedly embezzled by him.

Speaking during an extraordinary meeting of the association in Abuja yesterday, the National President, Elder Chinedu Okoronkwo, said the association has been grappling with crisis since the handover of Abdulkadir because he received N10.9 billion oil subsidies courtesy of IPMAN investment to import fuel into the country and did not do it.

“Today, he is doing everything possible to see that there is no peace in IPMAN  so that we cannot be organised to bring him to book, but that is not to be as the National Executive council of the organisation has petitioned all relevant agencies including the Presidency  and the Inspector General of Police,” he revealed.

He said they were happy that government of the day is one that stands for accountability and urged it to ensure the Abdulkadir is investigated and not only brought to justice but also made to refund the N10.9 billion and other properties belonging to the association in his possession.

According to him, the directors of IPMAN Investment “under his fraudulent regime has never rendered any account since inception, but all we see is N10.9 billion collected on behalf of the company.”.

He said all invitations extended by the association and the police in the past to get Abdulkadir to account for the money and other properties were never honoured.

Following a motion moved for the suspension of Abdulkadir and a the overwhelming affirmation enjoyed by it from all the members present, the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the association headed by Abdulkadir was dissolved and he himself became suspended.

In place of the dissolved BOT, a new one comprising 21 elected representatives from each of the depots in the country was constituted and a vote of confidence passed on them the national leadership under Elder Okoronkwo.
