The Chief Lawson Obasi-led Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) yesterday said it will work closely with relevant agencies of the federal government to stamp out pipeline vandalism and end scarcity of petroleum products once and for all.
The IPMAN national president, Chief Obasi, who gave the assurance at the inauguration of the association’s National Executive council (NEC) in Abuja, also said the group would be collaborating with federal government in order to realize the full potentials of the deregulation policy, and also ensure that the recurring scarcity of petroleum products is permanently done away with.
“We shall be partners-in-progress with the Federal Government, NNPC and PPMC in the promotion of industrial peace and harmony in the country and will, to this end, work closely with NUPENG, PTD and other associations and unions in the downstream sector in order that industrial peace and harmony reign supreme in our land. In this regard, we shall deploy all efforts in doing all that we can to support the government in stamping out pipeline vandalism from the country” he said.
Lawson also called on IPMAN members to embrace the current peace initiative in order to build a virile association and stronger nation.
Speaking earlier, the Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman of the association, Alhaji Aminu Abdulkadir, urged the new executives members to always ensure they are guided by the association’s constitution.
The BOT Chairman also urged aggrieved members to embrace the new leadership with both arms, stressing that there is no mountain that will be too high, adding that with one voice the association will conquer all odds.
As the saying goes, “Peace is a nursing mother to the land” I wish to thank all my colleagues for the olive branch which we have extended to ourselves. Today marks a new beginning in the affairs of IPMAN where we can say it loudly: no more war in IPMAN” he said.
A former National President and a member of BOT of IPMAN, Alhaji Abu adamu described the inauguration as a turning point in the life of IPMAN, adding that the event marks the end of a two years crisis which had rocked the association.
