INT’L DAY OF PEACE: PROJECT1000© PREACHES PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE IN YALA AND SOCIETY AT LARGE

Project1000©, the solution driven citizenship forum, driven by Urban professionals has sued for peaceful coexistence among the people of Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria.

Project1000 whose vision is to proffer solutions to societal problems in terms of peace, development, humanitarian services, amongst others has chosen to lend her voice to the voices of everyone across the world on the occasion of the international Day of peace, in making sure the society is peaceful for all to live in.

The National President, Mr Ebriku John Friday while addressing members of project1000© emphasises on the need for all to be ambassadors of peace because for development to drive they must be peace. Mr Ebriku using the recent communal crisis between two communities in Yala LGA and other part of Nigeria, said that, peace is the focal point of every developing nation.

“Today being international day for peace as declared by the United Nation, it is expedient project1000© key in and lend her voice to the world in making sure peace take it center force in both Yala and the society at large”.

“We must all rise to the occasion of building the society we all crave for, rise against the occasion of violence and pandemonium. And the United nation has provided us the opportunity to contribute our quotas to lasting peace in our nation and the world,” Mr Ebriku said.

Most recently Project1000© partnered Charles Offoboche Foundation (COF), by staging a peace walk which was geared towards proffering lasting peace between the two communities who were in heated communal crisis. The Founder of COF, Mr Charles Offoboche who communicated to the National president of Project1000 Mr Ebriku, said that, the occasion of the international day of peace is another opportunity to cement the peace both organisations has been preaching.

He said, “it will be appropriate if both COF and Project1000 still reach out to all aggrieved communities in our locality and environs”.

The International Day of Peace, sometimes unofficially known as World Peace Day , is a
United Nations-sanctioned holiday observed annually on 21 September. It is dedicated to world peace , and specifically the absence of war and violence , such as might be occasioned by a temporary ceasefire in a combat zone for humanitarian aid access. The day was first celebrated in 1981, and is kept by many nations, political groups, military groups, and people. In 2013 the day was dedicated by the Secretary-General of the United Nations to
peace education , the key preventive means to reduce war sustainably.

To inaugurate the day, the United Nations Peace Bell is rung at UN Headquarters (in New York City ). The bell is cast from coins donated by children from all continents except Africa , and was a gift from the United Nations Association of Japan , as “a reminder of the human cost of war”; the inscription on its side reads, “Long live absolute world peace”.
In recent years, a searchable map of events has been published at un.org.

Peace is key to every socio-cultural development. Let’s stay peaceful.

From all of us at project1000©, we wish Yala, Cross River State, Nigeria and indeed the world a peaceful coexistence.
