The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has called on its members, teeming supporters and other electorates in Edo and Ondo states to participate massively in the ongoing voters registration and collection of Permanent Voters Cards in the states.
The party in a statement made available to press men by the member of the PDP National Caretaker Committee in charge of Publicity matters, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, told all electorates in Edo and Ondo States where governorship elections will be held in September 10 and November 26, 2016 respectively to as matter of urgency obtain their PVCs for those that have registered and urged those that did not register in the last exercise to do so immediately.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of Continuos Voters Registration (CVR) and collection of Permanent Voters Card (PVC) from June 22 to June 27, 2016 in both States to allow citizens of the states that registered but could not acquire their PVC to do so and to provide opportunity for intending voters.
“We wish to call on our members, teeming supporters and other voters in Edo and Ondo States to use this window provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) and collection of PVC to massively participate and get their voters cards ready to vote for our flag-bearer in Edo, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and for our candidate in Ondo when the primary is conducted”
The PDP however advised the security agencies in Edo and Ondo States to provide the necessary security in the States and INEC to remain an unbiased umpire to do justice to all people irrespective of their political leaning by discharging their duties diligently during the exercises.
Finally, the PDP urged all its members, supporters and other voters in Edo and Ondo states to protect their PVC and must not allow any politician to intimidate them.
