The former publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday debunk rumours that he is a plantiff in a suit seeking to stop the party national convention scheduled for August 17, 2016 in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Metuh, who is currently facing money laundering trials, also said he has not instructed anyone to file any such suit on his behalf and that his name was listed in error. He said those behind the suit have assured him that they will rectify the error.
The former PDP spokesman, spoke through his special assistant, Richard Ihediwa, in a statement made available to Theleaderng.com in Abuja.
The statement reads in part, “Our attention has been drawn to reports in the print and electronic media listing Chief Olisa Metuh as one of the plaintiffs in the suit seeking to halt the PDP’s scheduled August 17, 2016 National Convention.
“Chief Metuh wishes to inform the general public that he is not part of the suit seeking to stop the convention and he never instructed anyone to file any such suit on his behalf.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Chief Metuh has taken the pains to consult those that went to court and has been reliably informed that his name was listed in error and which they have promised to rectify accordingly.
“It is pertinent to mention that Chief Metuh has not attended any political meeting and/or programme since his chair accident at a function at the party’s National Secretariat in April wherein he aggravated his spinal cord ailment.
“Our appeal to all and sundry therefore is that Chief Metuh at this time should be left out of intra-party controversies. His only preoccupation now remains matters concerning his health and the extant court trial.”
