Following the current fight against corruption a group under the auspices of Rescue Nigeria Anti-corruption Network (ReNAN) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to sustain the tempo.
This was said by National Coordinator, ReNAN, Hon Engema Jumbo, while appraising the ongoing prosecution of corruption cases in some courts in the country.
Engema who has been an anti-corruption activist said from the organisation’s assessment of the current fight against corruption under Buhari’s administration there are indications that the era of impunity will soon be a thing of the past.
He said: “Many revelations of serious corruption cases have emerged since President Muhammadu Buhari took over the reins of power. These cases are high profile corruption cases indicting former political office holders, civil servants, and some corporate organisations.
“The Rescue Nigeria Anti-corruption Network (ReNAN) has been watching keenly on these cases. We are also monitoring the trend of investigation and action taken by Mr. President against personalities involved in the corruption cases after he launched an offensive against corruption and its perpetrators.
“We can see the positive effects of the prosecutions and urge Mr. President to sustain the tempo of the fight against corruption and say don’t relent because sanity is gradually returning in our national life and our dignity and respect is being restored in the comity of nations, and we still expect corruption to reduce further.”
Engema said there are people who will definitely fight back to frustrate Mr. President, but he should remain steadfast as ReNAN was ready to support and be at the vanguard against all forms of corruption in the public and private sectors.
“Some people will definitely fight Mr. President in many ways to frustrate him but we urge him to remain steadfast and don’t allow distractions. ReNAN is in full support of Mr. President’s fight against corruption, and we are not going to relent in exposing anybody involved in corruption and we will ensure the law takes its course and the culprits punished accordingly.
“We are out to rescue Nigerians from impunity and corruption in all the 36 states and 774 local government areas of the federation. We cannot accept impunity by civil servants, politicians and corporate organisations and if found culpable should be dealt with”, he stated.
