Comrade Grace Ike, the newly sworn-in Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council on Sunday led her executive members and friends in a special church Thanksgiving service at the Word Harvest Church Karu Abuja.
The team dedicated the victory and successful conduct of the election to God just as they asked God for more knowledge, wisdom and understanding in piloting the affairs of the Council.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Secretary of Council, Comrade Jide Oyekunle and made available to journalists.
The thanksgiving was a celebration of God’s faithfulness and the successful NUJ FCT Council election, which saw Comrade Ike emerging as the first female chairman in 43 years.
The service was presided over by Archbishop Leonard Kawas and other ministers, with intense prayers offered for God’s guidance, favor, and blessings.
Ike, while returning the honour and adoration to God, narrated the gang up and bickering by her opponents in an attempt to scuttle her ambition. She said her emergence was a divine intervention ordained by God.
“ It was turbulent, it was tough. They said a woman cannot lead. This is the first time a woman will become the chairman of NUJ after 43 years” She said
Other executive members in attendance included Vice Chairman Comrade Yahaya Ndambabo, Secretary of Council Comrade Jide Oyekunle, and Treasurer Comrade Sandra Udeike.
This special service was a beautiful way to dedicate their tenure to God and express gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
