Abuja-based journalist, Comrade Ebriku John Friday, has been officially confirmed as Ex-Officio 1 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
The decision was approved by the Comrade Grace Ike-led leadership of the union at the Congress of Saturday, April 12, 2025, recognising Ebriku’s contributions to journalism both in Abuja and across Nigeria.
Originally from Yala in Cross River State, Ebriku has built a solid career in the media. He previously worked with Leadership Newspaper, where he held several key roles and eventually rose to a managerial position. He also served as a Special Assistant to the former governor of Cross River State, Senator Ben Ayade.
Ebriku is currently a contributor for The Leader NG and serves as the editor of the NUJ FCT’s online platform.
His nomination is seen by many as a reflection of his commitment and long-standing service to the journalism profession.
