The ancient city of Okuku in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State was on Saturday thrown into a frenzy of excitement as the nobility and royalty of high society descended on the domain of the Director-General, Cross River State Due Process and Price Intelligence Bureau, Hon Barr Alphonsus Ogar Eba, as he ties the knot with his heart rob, Mrs Cecelia Ogar.
The city had taken on a face-lift in anticipation of the mother of all weddings and Okuku became a sight to behold to a first-time visitor.
The hotels weren’t left out in the fun as they seized the opportunity to raise their prices but still did brisk business.
The wedding between Barr Alphonsus Ogar Eba and his lovely wife Ogar Cecilia brought together who is who in the state political scene.
Leading the list of top dignitaries who graced the event is Cross River State Governor, Sir Ben Ayade, who was represented by his Deputy, Prof Ivara Esu.
Other in attendance include, the Speaker Cross River State House of Assembly (CRSHA), Rt Hon Eteng Jones, Rt Hon Jarigbe Agom (representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly), Chief of Staff to the governor and chairman of the occasion, Chief Martins Orim.
Also in attendance are, Leader of the CRSHA, Rt Hon Peter Odey (Odinga), Deputy Chief Whip of the CRSHA, Rt Hon Regina Anyogo (representing Yala1), Hon Cynthia Nkasi (representing Yala1 2), Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr Barr Stephen Odey, former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon Mrs Stella Odey, former Chairmen of Yala Local Government, Hon Matthew Ojugbo, Hon Dr Julius Okpotu, Hon Mike Usibe, former Chairman of Ogoja Local Government, Hon Chief Mrs Rita Agbo Ayim, Engr Eraye, Chief Mrs. Angela Ogeyi Odey, Dr Asibong, Chief Barr Sir Dorncklaimz Enamhe, Hon. Eddie Achi, Chairman/CEO Santuscom Agro – hub (Producer of popular #OgojaRice) Chief Paul Santus, Barrister Patience Obim, Engr Cosmas Ekawu, the General Manager, Cross River State Waste Management Agency, Hon Oko Sunday Ebeku amongst others.
Traditional leaders across the state were led by his HRH Ogamode Onah Ipuole, religious leaders and people’s democratic party faithfuls across the state were among the dignitaries that witnessed the wedding Eba held at St.Joseph Catholic Church, Okuku. The National President of #Project1000 Ebriku John Friday, his vice Mr Dough Onah, some executives and members were present to give support to the historic wedding.
Indeed, well before the Saturday, November 9th wedding kicked off, the place had already been overtaken by dignitaries.
They zoomed in, driven in expensive state-of-the-art models that would burn a hole in a billionaire’s pockets.
Proceedings commenced at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Okuku where the Catholic priest, Rev. Father Mathias Ojorgu, solemnized the marriage while prayers were offered.
The bride and groom being descended from no mean status, the quality of dignitaries was particularly high, over five thousand people friends and relatives took over the reception venue all in celebration of an Icon and his beautiful wife.
A lot of present and past PDP leaders were also out in force to support and identify with one of their own, including political leaders of other opposition parties in the state.
