Ex-Naval Chief’s Wife In Land Scandal

Wife of the immediate past Chief of Naval Staff, CNS, Mrs. Jibril Usman, allegedly sent naval ratings to abduct and kill the owner of a property located in Kubwa, a suburb of Abuja.

The owner of the property on plot No. 95, Gbazango Extension Scheme, Kubwa, measuring about 1,500m square meters, Mr, Mounsodi Lawrence, was however lucky.

He was abducted in front of the office of the area commander, Nigeria Police Force, Kubwa, after he missed death by the whiskers.

As at the time of filling this report, his bullet ridden Pathfinder Jeep marked GWA 252 DR was still parked at the Nigeria Police Force area commander’s office in Kubwa.

The police, however, arrested two suspects, the chief detail to the former CNS and a man who claimed to be a lawyer, Barrister Ikemefuna Mojume, whose Toyota Camry car was allegedly used in the failed abduction exercise.

Trouble started for Lawrence when some people encroached and almost took possession of his property.

Investigations revealed that those who encroached on his property and who now claim ownership drove away his workers. They however left a forwarding number claiming that the land belongs to the immediate past CNS.

According to him, the aide of the former naval chief simply identified as Ali Abdulsalam started sending him blank text messages and would occasionally use another number to call and threaten him.

The issue got to a climax on Friday last week, April 8, when Lawrence got a call to come to the site.
According to him, the caller threatened to kill his worker if he failed to show up.

Not sure of the safety of his worker, Lawrence reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station where some policemen were officially assigned to go and investigate the allegation of threat to life.

He disclosed that he met a police van with policemen, a naval van, naval ratings and a Toyota Camry car at the site.

But the other party was shocked to see him accompanied by policemen, a situation which led to the postponement of the meeting after a heated argument between both parties.

He said both parties were told to state their case with evidence.

According to him, he suddenly discovered that he didn’t lock his car and that his documents were in the vehicle, so he excused himself to go and lock it.

It was at this stage that one Okon J.J whispered to an armed naval rating to mark him.

He said shortly after he opened the car and attempted to pick the documents, the armed naval rating ordered him to quietly pull out the vehicle, but he told him that he was not about to drive out but to pick his documents, an action that angered the rating, who started shooting at the car.

The gunshots attracted policemen from the station, and before they could get to the scene of the incident, the ratings had bundled him into the Toyota Camry car, the lawyer also attempted to abduct his staff too, but it was aborted by the police.

According to Lawrence, he was driven to the Naval Quarters in Kubwa, but when they got to the gate, an argument ensured between them.

Some of them argued that they could not go on with their initial plan since his staff was not abducted and that he would expose them even if they settle the police.

It was at this point that a call came from the area commander who asked them to immediately return with the victim. They therefore moved the matter back to the Kubwa Police Station.

According to police sources, the Area Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, Arungwa, ordered the lawyer and the naval rating who was directly involved to be locked up, while the car was towed.

When contacted for comments, Okon J. J, who was alleged to have given the order to the naval rating to shoot, told our correspondent, “Let the police call the people concerned.”

Ali Abdulsalam, however, warned our correspondent: “Don’t call this line again. Are you a uniform person?”

The area commander did not pick his call, while Mrs. Usman’s number was switched off.
