Crisis was averted on Wednesday in Ewohim community of Esan South-East local government area of Edo State following the disruption of a youth sensitization programme of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Victor Eboigbe and some of his thugs.
The PDP in the state had embarked on an aggressive grassroots youth sensitization programme ahead of the party’s campaign rally on Thursday targeted at winning the support of the teeming youth population of the community for its governorship candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu when Eboigbe and his thugs suddenly arrived in a convoy and blocked the road.
The incident it was gathered infuriated the youth of the community and almost resulted in a fisticuff but for the brazen intervention of the PDP youth leader in the community.
It was, however, gathered from our source that the APC chieftain contacted the DPO in the community and informed him of the incident but after the DPO’s investigation and interaction with the youths, he advised them to go about their programme in the community in peace.
Calm has since been restored and all is now set for the campaign rally of the PDP in the community on Thursday, July 21, 2016.
It would be recalled that the PDP on Sunday had called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure a level playing ground for the various party candidates as the electioneering campaign for the number one seat in the state gathers momentum.
