Draw Out Strategies To Mitigate Security Challenges In Plateau, NCPC Boss Tells Youth Council

The Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev Dr Yakubu Pam has charged the executives of the Plateau Youth Council to come up with short and long term strategies on how to mitigate the lingering fragile security situation in the Plateau.

He made this disclosure on 26th July, 2023 in his office in Abuja while playing host to the executives of the Plateau Youth Council, the umbrella body of all the youth organizations in Plateau State, Mr Celestine Toruka, Deputy Director and Head Media and Public Relations said in a statement on Wednesday.

Rev Pam averred that Plateau state used to be home for every Nigeria in the past , but according to him,” it seems we have lost hope, especially if the situation is not urgently addressed”.

Rev Pam who is an illustrious son of the state stated that Plateau state had a long history of accommodation of visitors as well as a long history of uniting people irrespective of tribe and religion.

He commended the youth of the state for their renewed hope in Plateau state and their commitment in ensuring that lasting peace is achieved in the Plateau.

He also enjoined them to ensure that a strong economic base is built in the Plateau so that the youth would be meaningfully engaged and empowered.

He further charged them to draw up a working agenda on the economic blueprint of the state in the next 10 years.

He described the Plateau Youth Council as the credible voice of the people.

He disclosed that within his three years in the saddle he was able to introduce a new pilgrimage destination; the Jordan pilgrimage in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic when there was strict restrictions on international travels.

He was also enthused to state that he had been able to build more relationships with the church and the states.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of the Plateau Youth Council,Comrade Sunday Adas who was represented by Comrade Beduna Gaknung said the Council was the mother body of all the youths in the Plateau.

The Executive Chairman explained the NCPC boss had sincerely liberated a lot of Youths in Plateau state and so they were in the Commission to celebrate him and to urge him to continue to do well even in NCPC as he was known for.

He affirmed that the youths were vulnerable in the Plateau and were the worst casualties of the crisis in the state.

He enjoined the NCPC boss to intervene in their situation through prayers so that the youths of Plateau state could be saved.
He reaffirmed that it would do the society a lot of good for the youth to be productively engaged.
