Eba made the appeal in a statement on his Facebook handle, where he also acknowledged the current hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy and floating of the Naira, including other challenges.

He said: “Fellow Nigerians, I write to express our collective pains, sufferings and hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy and floating of the Naira.

“While we commend the understanding and patience of all citizens in this trying moments, we still want to appeal to all Nigerians to give president Tinubu more time to implement the renewed hope programs and projects because i can see light at the end of the tunnel.

“To all Cross Riverians, the season of sweetness is here, it can only get better if we think cross river and support H. E. Sen. Prince Bassey Otu

“While it is within the rights of everyone to peacefully assemble and even carry out peaceful protest, the security report about the planned hijack by non-patriotic Nigerians make the planned protest on august 1st counterproductive.”

Meanwhile, he also recalled that, “The ENDSARS protest experience is still fresh in our hearts. Cross River State in particular was worse hit because of the hijack by non-Cross Riverians that looted and destroyed public and private properties.

“The president has heard you and he will address all our concerns. The ruling all progressives leadership will meet with all the States’ chairmen today and we will present the true report from each State. We beg you all to show a little more tolerance.

According to the APC chairman there is light at the end of the tunnel based on the effort made by the Tinubu-led administration based on various policies to meet the demands of Nigerians and ameliorate their plight in no distant time.

“The local government autonomy judgment will bring the government closer to the people at the grassroots.

“The successful implementation of the students’ loan scheme, consumer credit scheme, new minimum wage etc, are steps in the right direction and it can only get better going forward.

“In the interim, food prices will go down because of bumper harvest, opened borders and removal of taxes on food and pharmaceutical products.

“The ongoing food distribution as palliatives including distribution of fertilizers and conditional cash transfers are geared towards addressing the sufferings of our people

“In few weeks’ time, fuel prices will go down because of CNG vehicles conversion and commencement of refined petrol in Port Harcourt and Dangote Refineries.

“The Naira strengthen because the huge pressure to procure Dollars for fuel importation will drop.

“The war against corruption, insurgency and crude oil theft is showing positive results.

“Never again should we hand over a banner with stains to our children.

“Say no to protest! Give peace a chance!”
