It was excitement and relief on the faces of Cross Riverians as the General Manager, Cross River State Waste Management Agency, Hon Sunday Ebeku, aka Otolo on Friday embarked on distribution of palliative to the 14 polling units of Okuku Ward in Yala Local Government Area.
Mr Ebeku, who is popular known as Otolo, in his capacity as the indisputable leader of ward reached out to his people with the palliative in a view to cushion the effect of the ongoing partial lockdown in the state.
The items distributed to the people during the exercise include Items include rice, beans, tubers yam, and noodles.
Other items also distributed are hand sanitizers and nose mask as well as cash donations to the various polling units.
Speaking during the palliative distribution exercise, the Hon Ebeku urged the various representatives of the polling units to ensure the items get a to the vulnerable women, men, youth as well as physically challenged in the communities.
He urged the people to continue to follow approved guidelines for the prevention and spread of the virus by wearing nose mask, maintain social distancing, as well as wash hands regularly to stay safe.
The SA to Governor Ben Ayade on Youth (North), Comrade Okori Benard Oko, who witnessed the distribution exercise, expressed appreciation to Mr Ebeku for remembering his people in their time of need.
It would be recalled that Cross River State has maintained its COVID-19 free status, as the state in the country, yet to record any incidence of the Coronavirus otherwise known as COVID-19. The state government has continued to tightens its borders and stepped up sensitization campaigns on the preventive measures to curb the spread and maintain its COVID-19 free status.
