THE DEATH OF DISTINGUISHED SENATOR DR ROSE OKOJI OKO: END OF AN ERA

I received with utter disbelieve and bewilderment the sad and unfortunate news of the death of our dear Senator, Dr Rose Okoji Oko. Her death was indeed the end of an era.

Her death, it was gathered occurred at a UK medical facility. Until her death she was a second term serving Senator, representing the good people of Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State and the chairman, Senate Committee on Trade and Investment.

It was indeed the end of an era as I grew up to know her trajectory as a child through my adult life, as a lecturer, commissioner for education, Federal commissioner as well as her political activities from the defunct NDP to the PDP and various leadership positions she held with grace and gratitude.

Her dead has left a huge vacuum. Its a huge loss to the Yala nation, Cross River North, Cross River and indeed Nigeria at large. She passed on at a time we all needed her wealth of experience, knowledge and wisdom the most.

While I mourn her passage, I extend my sincerest sympathy and condolences to her immediate family, the entire Yala, Cross River North, Cross River State, her colleagues in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly and Nigeria in general. And pray we all have the fortitude to bear this monumental irreparable loss.

I am however, consoled by the fact that she lived an exemplary life of dedication, discipline, and devotion to God and humanity.

May the good Lord receive her great soul in His eternal Kingdom.

Rest on the Amazon of our time. You will be greatly missed.
