The indefinite strike embarked on by oil workers in Nigeria have been called off . The strike action by the oil workers was after minister of state for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu announced that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) would be split into independent units.
The workers under the auspices of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), are said to have called off the strike after meeting with Kachikwu, who is also the Group Managing Director of the NNPC. 
The decision of the decision of the oil workers was announced via NNPC Twitter handle @NNPCgroup on Thursday.

“Sequel to exhaustive deliberations between our GMD and GEC of PENGASSAN and NUPENG, the corporate-wide strike has been suspended,” the oil corporation said via its Twitter handle today, March 10.
The strike began on Wednesday over restructuring at NNPC.
