Asset Recovery: Gov Otu Seeks Security Agencies Collaboration On Intelligence Sharing

Cross River Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu has called for increased collaboration and intelligence gathering among security agencies in the state to adequately tackle the myriads of assets recovery and management challenges.

Gilbert Agbor, Esq., the workaholic Special Adviser to the Governor on Asset Recovery and Management made this known during a courtesy visit to the Commandant, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Cross River Command, Commander Charles Brown, in Calabar.

Touring the command headquarters, Gilbert said it is imperative to collaborate with the Civil Defence Corps for effective operation in the area of asset recovery, intelligence sharing and exchange of information in the discharge of their duties.

“The administration of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu has signalled its commitment to the security agencies through robust asset recovery and management initiatives, including inter -agency governmental cooperation”, he said.

“The aim of the visit is to strengthen ties while fostering effective collaboration between law enforcement agencies in the State. It is also to enhance relations and pursue mutual engagements in the ongoing efforts to recover assets. This is to address various key issues related to the management and recovery of government assets, both within and outside the state in line Governor Bassey Otu’s People First Mantra Agenda on due process , transparency and accountability.”

He further expressed optimism that the NSCDC will create and build the essence of its network and continue to work hand-in-hand with the government on my intelligence gathering

The Commandant congratulated the Special Adviser on his appointment saying it is a testament to his credibility and the confidence the Governor have in him, considering the peculiarity of the office.

“As part of our core mandate to secure and safeguard critical government assets, we are committed to offering our services and support to your office whenever necessary in other to recover state assets.” Mr Brown said.

“I also take this opportunity to appeal to the Governor, through your office, to support the Command in reclaiming a portion of the command’s headquarters designated as an exhibit yard, which is currently occupied by officials from the immediate past administration. This is a worrisome situation that needs to be addressed as to it is a security threat to the command”.

Responding, the Special Adviser assured the Commandant that within the ambits of the law, his office will ensure the recovery of that critical portion of the command’s headquarters illegally annexed by some powerful members of the previous administration. This, he said is in line with Governor Otu’s mandate of following due process without witch hunting anyone in the recovery of every government asset in the hands of anyone; no matter how highly placed.

At the courtesy visit to receive the Special Adviser include DC Robert Prince, in-charge of Operations, DC Ogidi-Olu Oludare, Head of Technical Services, DC Osuji Lambert, Head ofà Crisis Department, AC A.I. Essien, Asset Management and Recovery, and CSC Eremi Solomon, the State Public Relations Officer (PRO).
