Amnesty Programme: Ex-militants Pass Vote Of Confidence On Boro

Ex-militants under the Third Phase of the Presidential Amnesty Programme of the Federal Government have passed vote of confidence on the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta affairs and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier General Paul Boro (retd), for effective management of the amnesty programme since he was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
This was contained in a statement signed by National Coordinators of the Third Phase Amnesty, Julius Joseph and Tam Odogwu, while appreciating the impact the programme has made within a short period.
The statement reads in part: “To pass a vote of  confidence on a great achiever, astute administrator and welfarist par excellence, Brig. Gen. Paul Tarela Boro (rtd), Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs/Coordinator of the Amnesty on his giant strides and tremendous achievements since taking over the mantle of leadership of the Amnesty programme.
“The success recorded by the programme within this short period is an indication of his (Boro) exceptional managerial prowess. The regular and prompt payment of monthly stipend and allowances as well as the massive training of beneficiaries in entrepreneurship are remarkable accomplishments associated with his administration. We are happy with his effort and have confidence that he has the capacity to add value to the life of the people in the Niger Delta region.”
They also commend Boro for his excellent plan to  decentralize the Amnesty Office to all the states in his statement. Boro, who stated that the decision to situate its office in all the states in the Niger Delta region and Diaspora will create accessibility and enhancement of communication.
“Finally, we use this opportunity to call on all stakeholders in the Niger Delta region and well meaning Nigerians to fully support Paul Boro in his drive promoting peace and sustainable development in the region”, the statement added.
However, the statement commended President Muhammadu Buhari for extending the Presidential Amnesty Programme for another two years.
 “We sincerely commend and appreciate President Muhammadu Buhari for his foresight and vision for the Amnesty Programme and youth in the Niger Delta region, particularly for necessary extension of the programme for more two years for positive and logical conclusion. We the leaders of the Third Phase Ex-agitators give kudos and appreciate the gesture of Mr. President.
“We support Mr. President’s administration because he means well for the people of the Niger Delta region, and by that good and sincere heart for the people and development, he never hesitated and in his wisdom to appointment a worthy son of the region to coordinate the Presidential Amnesty programme, Brig. Gen. Tarela Paul Boro.”
