Abia, Rivers Violence: Presidential Aide Condemns Killing Of Youths

The special assistant on youth and student affairs to President Muhammadu Buhari, Comrade Nasir  Adhama has  lamented recent killings of two students in Abia State University and the River State election killings of a corps member saying the killings are condemnable and uncalled for.

Adhama in a press statement signed by his Technical Assistant on Student matters, Comrade Okpanchi Jacob, and made availability to journalists in Abuja yesterday said the country is already faced with several challenges and Nigeria rather channel their energy toward solving this rather than killing innocent youths.

I have noticed with shock the injustice, brutality and mayhem unleashed on our young people in some citadel of learning across the country such as Abia State University where 2 students were beheaded.

“I am also very sad when I received the news of the killing of corps member during the rerun election in Rivers State

“Our country is facing various challenges ranging from insecurity, unemployment, corruption and all forms of social vices that calls for pragmatic solution from all patriotic citizens, we must remember that no political strategy can make the magic of development without the strong support of the citizens most especially the youths”, the statement reads in part.

He therefore called the politicians to emulate the spirit of peace and sportsmanship and play politics that will entrench peace and development while urging the youth to direct their energy, skills, knowledge, population and network to drive the economy and the political system of the country and refused to be used by Politicians for their selfish gains

“I acknowledged the role of young Nigerians in the 2015 peaceful ballot revolution, I’m aware of the high expectations of the people and I want to assure you that this administration will not let us down.

“Let’s stand by the Government’s change agenda that we put in place to succeed and restore the Glory of our country in order to prepare a sustainable country for us”, he urged.
