Ahead of the 2019 Christian Pilgrimage Exercise, Air Carriers and Ground handlers have been urged to build a bond of unity with the commission for effective delivery.
The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Tor Uja disclosed this during the second phase of bid opening for Airlift and Ground handlers.
He explained that when the service providers work in oneness with the Commission, both the commission and themselves will be able to achieve the set goals. Adding that it should be a developmental position to promote the health and progress of each other. In his words, “It is a demonstration of fairness and character, we want anybody who is qualified to fit into the project and anybody who goes, successfully, through the process should also show fairness by services expected for the comfort of Nigerians who will be embarking on the 2019 Pilgrimage”.
He urged the Service Provider to ensure that they accord the pilgrims the respect they deserve , according to him, “I want you to see people as people and not as objects of money or instrument on which we just stand to gain. I want to see a commitment from you and be fair to pilgrims”.
He emphasis that his wish is to “see all ground handlers doing well, it is inappropriate if we give one ground handler 7000 pilgrims and give another 200, it is inappropriate, improper and unfair, this shouldn’t be, it is good for everybody participating to participate appropriately”.
The NCPC boss stated that it is the commission’s dreams to upgrade Pilgrimage to the heights that allow everybody who embarks on pilgrimage does not only feel special but becomes a proper instrument for change in the society.
He congratulated all the service providers for scaling through the first phase of biding Exercise.
Observer from transparency Action Perfect, Mr. Richard Abechi, commended the Executive Secretary for a job well done, and for abiding by the public procurement Act, adding that the process was well organize and transparent.
The ground handlers thanked the commission for the opportunity and expressed their willingness to always work with the goals set by the commission to ensure effective implementation and excellent service delivery to all pilgrims before, during and after each pilgrimage exercise.
