2019: Nigerians Asked To Beware Of Candidates Under Foreign Influence

….alleges deliberate plot by terrorists’ nations to destabilize Nigeria

As preparations heat up ahead of the 2019 general elections, Nigerians have been warned to be wary of some aspirants under foreign influence.

The Coalition Against Terrorism and Extremism’s (CATE), while handing down this warning, alleged that there are deliberate plots by terrorists nations to destabilize the peaceful existence of Nigeria.

National President of the group, Comrade Gabriel Onoja, who gave this warning at a press conference on Tuesday, expressed shocks at what he termed fabulous fabrication of  lies packaged and sold to the  public by the TakeItBack Movement/Sowore 2019.

It alleged that the movement has been conniving with some agents and forces to cause chaos and disunity in Nigeria.

Onoja said it is sad that while America, Britain, Russia or any foreign country would not accept external campaign funds for any of  its Presidential aspirants; Sowore  is going round the world, collecting monies from both friends and foes of Nigeria to bankroll his campaigns.

“This act alone has signified the intention of Aspirant Sowore to mortgage the sovereignty of Nigeria to these nations should he by accident become President. No nation on earth tolerates this aberration and   Nigerians cannot accept neo-colonialism in this crude form,” the CATE leader lamented.

He said it is shocking to noted that Sowore is being supported by grants from the Ford Foundation as well as Omidyar Foundation, an organization funded by a French-American  billionaire businessman,  Mr. Pierre Morad Omidyar of Iranian parentage.

He continued, “Therefore,  when  #TakeItBack Movement/Sowore 2019’s  Director, PR, Media and Communications,  Rachel Onamusi-Kpiasi, published a public statement emphatically lying that the government of President Muhammedu Buhari has not  brought any single person to justice over the herders/farmers conflict, they were on a familiar track in the execution of this veiled destructive assignment.

“Excerpts from the statement said, interalia: “In three years, the Buhari government has been unable to bring even one perpetrator of crimes related to the Farmer-Herdsmen conflicts to justice.”

“Nigerians know the impact of this callously false claim and blatant lie on the families of victims and survivors of the unfortunate herders/farmers crises or killings in different parts of the country.

“Imagine the embattled populations gets to know that in spite of the grave injustices to them,  the Federal Government of Nigeria has gracefully pardoned the killers. The statement has the potency to trigger fresh reprisals and cause more deaths and destructions in some communities.

“But since  #TakeItBack Movement/Sowore 2019 is out to propagate an insidious agenda, which it has finely coated and embellished in a phantom populist cause, it freely lied.  No Nigerian keenly observing the trend in the herders/famers crises would concede to this irritating   group the claim that government has not initiated any action to bring a single perpetrator of the heinous crimes to justice. It is false, concocted, mischievous  and a  brazen assault on the conscience of security agents who are doing their best to  tame the crises, much as many  suspects are undergoing prosecution in various courts in the land.

“Permit us to briefly refresh your memories on some of the arrests and arraignment in courts, which have received wide media publicities. The #TakeItBack Movement/Sowore 2019 is aware that a serving  Council Chairman (name withheld) in Taraba state has been arrested  over the herders/farmers crises  for his suspected roles in aiding and abating armed militia. He is undergoing trial.

“A former Boko Haram ally, Aliyu Tashaku, who supplies arms and ammunitions to the armed marauders, in Benue state, has been arrested and arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Benue, alongside five other suspects.

“May we make it abundantly clear to unsuspecting  Nigerians that the #TakeItBack Movement/Sowore 2019  group and the characters who populate it are agents of foreign/western powers in conspicuous plots of conspiracy  to destabilize the peace and unity of Nigeria.

“Nigerians should be aware that these agents of darkness and evil have no good agenda for our country, now and in the future. And   we shall be making a grave mistake to believe their rantings and campaigns of destruction.

“We must resist Nigerians who reside abroad and turn their backs to realities at home because they have access to foreign funding  to set Nigeria on fire through their fabrication of lies and promotion of falsehood to ruin the country. They are bent on instigating uprisings and  compounding  the violence which is being handled, ahead of 2019  for the sole motivation of  truncating the country’s democratic journey.
